Robert Saleh came to his introductory press conference with a lot of answers and a clear vision on Thursday.
One thing he refused to do was put a timetable on anything, considering he’s taking over a 2-14 team. That said, Saleh is not minimizing expectations. Appearing on ESPN’s The Michael Kay Show on Thursday, Saleh put forth a bold proclamation.
“One thing I know is that we’re gonna win championships,” he said without mandating a timeframe.

Saleh didn’t hesitate when he made those remarks; it’s something he firmly believes in. Saleh is just two seasons removed from coordinating a defense that anchored San Francisco in its Super Bowl run. His defensive unit that season finished second in yards allowed and eighth in points, so he knows what it takes to get there.
While Jets CEO Christopher Johnson hasn’t given a playoff mandate for his new head coach just yet, Saleh has gone ahead and put the pressure on himself.
“I think that this entire city is going to gravitate towards this organization and it’s gonna get to where everyone expects it to be,” Saleh said. “We embrace the past, we embrace the expectations and we are excited to fulfill that promise.”
