Eagles to hire Colts OC Nick Sirianni as new HC

Sirianni is heading to Philly.

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to hire Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni to be their new head coach, first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Sirianni had become a favorite candidate for the Eagles earlier this week when his interview spanned the length of two days. Now, the Eagles have their replacement for Doug Pederson, and the Colts have to replace Sirianni on the coaching staff.

Though he didn’t get a lot of attention early in the offseason like defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus did, Sirianni was still a popular candidate for the Eagles after they fired Pederson.

It also helps that Sirianni got a strong recommendation from Colts head coach Frank Reich, who had a brief but memorable tenure as offensive coordinator in Philly that ended with a Super Bowl championship.

With Sirianni now heading to the Eagles, the Colts will have to fill his position on the staff and any other assistants that follow him to the East Coast.
