Former Florida and South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp has been spotted hanging around Athens, Ga., the last couple days. According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Muschamp spent all day Wednesday at the facility.
It has been speculated that Muschamp could join the Bulldogs staff in some capacity, most likely in an off the field role. As a former player at Georgia with lots of connections to Kirby Smart, it would make sense if that was his next step after being fired by South Carolina in his fifth season as head coach.
When asked about his purpose at the facility, Muschamp brushed off any job speculation.
“Visiting my son and talking ball,” is all Muschamp said before jumping into his truck in an assistant coach’s spot at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and driving away. He declined further comment.
Muschamp’s son, Jackson, is a walk-on redshirt freshman quarterback at Georgia.
It seems nothing has been finalized yet, but it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Muschamp joins the Bulldogs in some capacity.
