The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly interviewing Indianapolis Colts defensive backs coach Jonathan Gannon for their vacant defensive coordinator job, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
After the Chargers decided to hire Brandon Staley, former Rams defensive coordinator, over Matt Eberflus, it was expected that Gannon could be getting some looks from other teams to be their defensive coordinator.
Gannon also spoke with the Chicago Bears about their defensive coordinator job, which would be replacing former Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, who announced his retirement from the NFL last week.
Gannon is very popular within the Colts organization. He was a big reason Xavier Rhodes enjoyed a comeback season in 2020 and has done well with the developments of safeties Khari Willis and Julian Blackmon.
The Colts have a few assistant coaches up for jobs and it seems now they need to watch out for Gannon heading to the West Coast.
