After 17 years, eight Pro Bowl selections and 12 years with 4,000-plus passing yards, Philip Rivers is retiring from the NFL.
The quarterback announced the decision after one year with the Indianapolis Colts, after previously playing 16 years with the Chargers franchise in both San Diego and Los Angeles.
What a career! And not just because of his impressive stats. He was known for being one of the most creative, hilarious trash talkers in the league and whenever he was mic’d up, we got to hear what he’d say. It was always entertaining.
Tributes with some of those videos poured in on Wednesday morning:
The NFL lost a trash talking legend 😂
Happy retirement, Philip Rivers.

As Rivers would say — and did say in his retirement statement — Dadgummit, sad to see him go.
