Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is expecting some prominent reinforcements from within to the team’s defensive backfield in 2021. Two recent high draft picks who missed the entire 2020 season, safety Grant Delpit and cornerback Greedy Williams, are expected to fully recover from their injuries according to Stefanski.

Delpit was the team’s second-round pick in 2020, while Williams came in the same round a year earlier. Both are from LSU.

“I am excited about both of those guys. Unfortunate injuries,” Stefanski said in his season-ending press conference via Zoom. “They are just going to continue to rehab and work through those injuries. That is the exciting part for us to get some of those guys back next season.”

Delpit tore his Achilles in a non-contact drill in training camp in August. He was already working with the starters in the 3-safety package and was expected to play a significant role as a rookie.

Williams was a projected starter in 2020 after starting all 12 games he played in his rookie season. He suffered a nerve injury in his shoulder during a training camp drill.
