It’s almost baseball time at Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Texas. The 2020 season ended abruptly for the Longhorns, where they started out the season 14-3 before the season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic that ended all winter and spring sports across the collegiate landscape.
The Longhorns have high hopes to return to Omaha for the College World Series tournament after a two-year hiatus. David Pierce’s squad is returning a vast majority of their team from a season ago that dropped just three games in their first 17 of the season. The Longhorns were 10-1 at home with their lone loss coming against Boise State.
D1 Baseball recently released their preseason baseball rankings and Texas landed at No. 9 overall. There are five teams from the Big 12 Conference that make up the top 25. Three of those teams, including Texas, are within the top 10.

The 2021 baseball schedule has yet to be announced by the Big 12. According to D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers, the conference’s athletic directors were set to vote on the schedule but no announcement has been made from the conference themselves.
This looks like a very promising team for the upcoming season that will hopefully see them back in the NCAA tournament to make a run at their seventh national championship.
