One of the biggest disappointments birthed from the Tennessee Titans’ 2020 season was the lack of production they got from their most recent draft class.
First-round pick, Isaiah Wilson, was an absolute disaster and played just four snaps all season long. Second-round pick, Kristian Fulton, and third-round pick, Darrynton Evans, both battled injury and played sparingly.
Fifth-round pick Larrell Murchison was able to stay healthy but made very little noise, and only one of the team’s seventh-round picks, Chris Jackson, is still on the team.
Despite all that, Bleacher Report’s Chris Roling gave Tennessee’s 2020 draft class a “C” grade. Here’s what he had to say:
The Tennessee Titans got effectively nothing from first-round offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson after he made multiple trips to the COVID-19/reserve list and committed a violation of team rules.
Kristian Fulton didn’t play many snaps, either. Nor did Darrynton Evans or the rest. Seventh-round rookie Chris Jackson playing the most snaps of any rookie at 21.4 percent says it all about Tennessee’s draft class.
So, too, does the fact the Titans couldn’t get Wilson on the field despite starting tackle Taylor Lewan sitting on injured reserve.
There’s still hope Fulton can realize some potential after playing in just six games, and Wilson himself has a high ceiling based on college tape and athleticism. But the immediate results are bad, and the future is cloudy.
Grade: C
If we’re basing the grade on first-year production alone, the Titans get a big fat “F”. If we’re basing it on solely or also on potential, the grade gets a bit higher.
Of course, Wilson looks like a lost cause at this point, but there is still hope for the rest of picks. Evans and Fulton in particular both flashed at certain points this season, as Fulton notched a sack and an interception, and Evans looked electric in Tennessee’s Week 15 win over the Detroit Lions.
Moving forward, the Titans will hope things turn around for the 2020 class and that it can eventually make the kind of impact the 2019 one has.
