Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this past season does not count towards players’ eligibility, allowing for Coghlin to make this move to return.

In his four years as the starting kicker, after redshirting as a true freshman, Coghlin has brought a lot of stability to the kicking game. He is a perfect 107-for-107 on extra points and he has made 64 out of his attempted 85 field goals, with a career-long being from 51-yards. Coghlin also has a 6-yard touchdown run in his MSU career.
Coghlin will need to make 8 field goals in the 2021 campaign to pass Brett Swenson for the most field goals made in Michigan State history.
