Report: Doug Pederson fired as Philadelphia Eagles head coach

Doug Pederson and his Super Bowl championship in Philadelphia are done as Eagles head coach

The Super Bowl only carries so much leash with any coach. Doug Pederson apparently ran out of his and is out as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Pederson took over for Andy Reid in 2016. He has gone 42-37-1 in five seasons, including a 13-3 mark in 2017 when the Eagles won the Super Bowl.

This year was troublesome as the Eagles struggled to a 4-11-1 mark, last in the NFC East.

Pederson caused a furor in the last game of the season when he replaced Jalen Hurts with Nate Sudfeld, claiming he wanted the Eagles to get a look at the backup quarterback despite the game being in the balance.

Pederson has close ties with New York Jets GM Joe Douglas and that could be a potential landing spot.
