Alabama head coach Nick Saban met with the media via Zoom on Sunday ahead of Monday’s national championship game.
Saban covered a plethora of topics about the championship game, but the biggest question was whether or not wide receiver Jaylen Waddle will play?
Waddle, who fractured his ankle in October, was cleared to return recently and participated in practice last week.
So does Saban think fans will see Waddle on Monday night?
“He has been able to practice to some degree,” Saban said regarding Waddle, via Charlie Potter of 247Sports.
“I think the biggest challenge is can he sustain in the game, and it’ll be a game-time decision as to whether he thinks he can play and go out there and do his job well enough to contribute to the team, and we won’t know that until we get out there after pregame warmup.”
The 5-foot-10, 182-pound junior from Houston caught 25 passes for 557 yards and four touchdowns in four games before his injury.
Whether Waddle plays an active role or not, his presence on the field will create another concern for Ohio State’s defense.
