Colts’ Matt Eberflus completes HC interview with Jets

Eberflus gets his first interview out of the way.

Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator completed his interview with the New York Jets for their vacant head coaching job, the team announced Sunday.

Eberflus has been in hot demand as a potential head coach, and the Jets were one of the first teams to reportedly have interest. After declining an interview with the Houston Texans, Eberflus got his interview with the Jets the day after the Colts were knocked out of the playoffs.

The Jets are an interesting team to take over and given that Eberflus will want to pick and choose his spots, it will be a storyline to what to see what happens with the situation.

It isn’t clear if Sam Darnold will be the quarterback moving forward and the roster is bare. But they have a lot of salary cap room to work with so that would be a plus.

Eberflus also is expected to interview with the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, which is a much more promising gig given the emergence of Justin Herbert and the roster the new head coach has to work with.

The Colts don’t want to lose their defensive coordinator but it may not be up to them so it will be interesting to see if anything comes out of the interview with the Jets.
