Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow recently expanded on his thoughts about the team retaining head coach Zac Taylor.

Appearing on an episode of Colin Cowherd’s “The Herd,” Burrow noted the following about his relationship with Taylor:

“It was immediate. I think Zac is going to be a great coach for a long time. I’m happy to be in the position that I’m in and to help build this organization, but it is going to be on Zac’s back. He’s the leader of what we are trying to do and he’s awesome.”

And that right there ends most of the discussion and speculation about Taylor’s role as head coach going into 2021. Yes, Taylor is 6-25-1, good for the fifth-worst start ever for a coach over his first two seasons. But if Burrow’s backing him, the front office can justify cutting out all other noise.

Burrow is one of many voices in the Bengals locker room to speak up over the course of the last week in favor of Taylor, quieting any discussion about the coach potentially losing the locker room.

The candid comments mesh well with Burrow’s immediate message to Bengals fans after Mike Brown revealed Taylor would be back for a third season in 2021.
