Minnesota had already moved on from its special teams coordinator this offseason and the team announced two more changes on Friday.
The Vikings said on Twitter that the team will not be renewing the contracts of defensive assistant Dom Capers and Director of Competition Development Mark Uyeyama.
Capers was most notably the defensive coordinator for the Packers the last time the team won the Super Bowl. Though he ended up being a polarizing coach among the Green Bay fan base, he helped lead the defense to some good years. He utilized linebackers well in pass rush during his time with the team.
This year, however, Minnesota’s defense did not do a good job of generating pressure overall. The Vikings missing the playoffs can be attributed to porous play from a defense depleted by injuries. It wasn’t all on that group, but they certainly didn’t help the team thrive towards the end of the year.
