The Brooklyn Nets have ruled out Kyrie Irving against the Grizzlies for Friday night’s meeting in Memphis. After Thursday’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers, reports indicated Irving was not traveling with the team to Memphis after missing Brooklyn’s win due to personal reasons. Irving has been ruled out for the same reason on Friday.
Steve Nash did not have an update on why Irving sat out Thursday after Brooklyn’s win, though he did refute the report from Heavy.com’s Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson that indicated the point guard “just didn’t want to play.”
“I don’t believe that to be the case,” Nash said regarding the report on a Zoom call with reporters.
Caris LeVert also addressed the matter with reporters on a Zoom call after Thursday’s win, stating he and his teammates heard from Irving via text before the game.
“That’s a personal issue for him,” LeVert said. “We support him, You know, he’s our brother. We went out there and competed without him. Like I said, it was a personal issue for him.”
