Is Deshaun Watson trying to get traded from the Houston Texans?
According to a series of reports, it sounds like he’s very unhappy with an organization that’s just gone through an awful year after coach/GM Bill O’Brien was fired in the middle of the season. What’s more, O’Brien’s moves emptied much of the Texans’ picks for 2020 and 2021, damaging the near future for the franchise.
So let’s go over what’s been reported up to Friday morning. Could it end with Watson being dealt at some point? Could it lead to the franchise making a move or hire to keep their superstar quarterback happy?
Away we go:
Watson cryptically tweets
In a since-deleted tweet, Watson said late Tuesday night, “Some things never change …” We wondered if the timing had to do with the Texans hiring former New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio. Well …
Report: Watson wasn’t happy about his lack of involvement in choosing a replacement GM
#Texans QB Deshaun Watson is extremely unhappy with the organization after owner Cal McNair informed him he would be involved in the GM and coach hiring process and provide feedback… but then did neither in the hire of GM Nick Caserio, sources say.

Uh-oh. Some clarification, though:
This has nothing to do with the actual hire of GM Nick Caserio. It has to do with the process. https://t.co/6ObYHqrdgB

Report: Watson pushed for the Texans to hire Chiefs Eric Bieniemy but the team didn’t interview him
Watson advocated for Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy—Pat Mahomes put in a strong word for EB with Watson—and the Texans didn’t even put in for an interview with Bieniemy.
Easy to see where he’d feel like they were just placating him by telling him he’d be involved. https://t.co/F3cTcyJkFU

Not good if that was what Watson was hoping for. At least interview him!
Report: Watson hasn’t answered calls from the Texans
Deshaun Watson has not spoken to #Texans brass in the last few days, though they have tried to call him. https://t.co/6ObYHqrdgB
