The Brooklyn Nets will be without Kyrie Irving once again on Friday as they try to begin their first winning streak of the season, having won back-to-back games on two separate occasions — most recently knocking off the Utah Jazz on Tuesday then the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday. Brooklyn won both Tuesday and Thursday’s games without Kevin Durant as the star forward serves out his seven-day quarantine in accordance with the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols — he could return as early as Sunday.
Brooklyn also managed to win Thursday’s game without Irving, who sat out due to personal matters — of which, no specifics have been disclosed by Steve Nash or the Nets.
But, a Nets spokesperson did inform Malika Andrews of ESPN that the Nets will be without Irving again on Friday. The point guard is not traveling with the team as they head to Memphis to get some payback against the Grizzlies.
