The New Orleans Saints are in for a busy Wednesday, with star wide receiver Michael Thomas expected to return to practice for the first training session ahead of their Wild-Card Round matchup with the Chicago Bears. Thomas has spent the last three weeks on the injured reserve list recovering from an early-season high-ankle sprain, which NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported has helped him rebound.

Rapoport detailed the Saints’ plan for Thomas this week, which begins with limited participation in the initial team practice on Wednesday. If his body responds as anticipated, he’ll take on stronger workloads as the week continues until Sunday’s kickoff.

His return would provide a nice shot in the arm for an offense that’s managed to put up points without him. While they blew out the division-rival Carolina Panthers with Thomas and stud running back Alvin Kamara both unavailable, getting either of them back for the Bears game would be tremendous. Adding both of their playmakers (if all goes well, Kamara will be eligible to return from COVID-19 reserve on Sunday against Chicago) would be quite a windfall.
