Report: It will be ‘challenging’ for Jared Goff to play vs. Seahawks

Jared Goff could miss another week with a thumb injury, which means John Wolford may get another start.

Jared Goff is a week removed from undergoing surgery on his broken thumb, and though it was initially believed that he’d probably be ready for the playoffs if the Rams made it, that’s not as certain now. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it will be hard for Goff to play in the wild-card round because of the thumb injury.

As Rapoport noted, Goff was throwing before the game on Sunday against Arizona, but given the circumstances with the Rams playing in frigid Seattle, it could be tough for Goff to grip the football as he normally would.

If Goff can’t play, that would thrust John Wolford into the starting lineup once again.

Wolford completed 22 of 38 passes for 231 yards and one interception against the Cardinals in Week 17, his first regular-season action in the NFL. He also rushed for a team-high 56 yards on six carries, showing off his mobility and quickness on the ground.

The offense didn’t score a touchdown against Arizona, but Wolford moved the ball and showed he’s very capable of succeeding in L.A.’s offense under Sean McVay.
