It’s a good thing the Los Angeles Lakers revamped their roster in the offseason and added a lot more talent because they’ve been without one of their key players from last season’s playoff run for most of the early season. And for at least Friday night’s game in San Antonio and L.A.’s first game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, the Lakers will continue to be without guard Alex Caurso, according to head coach Frank Vogel.
Caruso did not travel with the Lakers to San Antonio due to the league’s health and safety protocols. However, it seems unlikely that Caruso tested positive for the virus because the NBA released a statement on Wednesday that no players had tested positive in testing done since Dec. 24. Still, the Lakers are being very coy with when Caruso will rejoin the team.
The Lakers are in the middle of a four-game road trip. If Caruso doesn’t join the team by the weekend, it might make more sense for them to just wait until the team returns to L.A. before he rejoins.
