Dolphins’ first injury report features optimism for offense

The Miami Dolphins have unveiled their first full injury report for Week 17. With a clash against the Buffalo Bills awaiting and Miami facing a “must win” in order to guarantee the extension of their season, having all hands on deck will be a critical step to helping the Dolphins attain an ever-elusive playoff berth.

All hands on deck has already been confirmed as not going to happen however, as WR Jakeem Grant is already reported to be out this weekend with a high ankle sprain. Additionally, linebacker Elandon Roberts suffered what is reported to be a “significant” knee injury in Week 16 against the Raiders — his presence is also unexpected.

But if you’re in the mood for silver linings, the rest of Miami’s available players at least dressed for Wednesday’s practice. Here is the Dolphins’ full practice report:

Did not practice

  • WR Jakeem Grant (ankle)
  • LB Elandon Roberts (knee)

Limited practice

  • OL Solomon Kindley (knee/foot)
  • DE Shaq Lawson (shoulder)
  • S Bobby McCain (ankle)
  • WR DeVante Parker (hamstring)

Full practice

  • OL Ereck Flowers (ankle)
  • S Kavon Frazier (shoulder)
  • TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder)
  • CB Xavien Howard (shoulder)
  • CB Jamal Perry (foot)
  • LB Kyle Van Noy (hip)

How Miami’s “limited participants” are able to navigate the week will go a long way in deciding the likelihood of a Dolphins win. McCain played last week against the Raiders, but Parker, Lawson and Kindley all missed Saturday’s action in Las Vegas. If the Dolphins can get this group back, consider it a win and a big boost to their hopes of securing win No. 11 this season. Each of the players on Miami’s “full” practice participants list has been dealing with issues that have kept them on the injury report weekly — but all were able to play this past Sunday in a must win, so one can assume that barring any dramatic setbacks, they’ll be good for another key contest this Sunday.
