Josh Richardson scores 21 points as Dallas smashes Clippers 124-73.

The Dallas Mavericks closed out their season opening West Coast road trip Sunday by capturing their first win of the new season.

The Mavericks made short work of the Los Angeles Clippers and nabbed a 124-73 victory at Staples Center, and former University of Tennessee basketball player Josh Richardson had a big game in Los Angeles.

Richardson, playing his third regular-season game for the Mavericks, scored 21 points for Dallas, which led the Clippers 77-27 at halftime.

He started and played 27 minutes.

Richardson, a 2020 draft day acquisition by Dallas (1-2), also had three rebounds and two assists.

Richardson broke into the NBA with the Miami Heat and played for Philadelphia last season.

While playing for the Volunteers, he was an All-Southeastern Conference performer in 2015 and a two-time member of the league’s All-Defensive team in 2014 and 2015.
