How Titans can clinch AFC South or playoff berth in Week 17

It would take quite a bit for the Titans to miss out on the playoffs.

The Tennessee Titans are still in the driver’s seat in the AFC South despite losing to the Green Bay Packers in Week 16 — and that’s thanks to the Indianapolis Colts’ collapse and loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tennessee has three avenues to secure its first division title since 2008, one of which involves simply beating the Houston Texans in Week 17 at NRG Stadium.

Here’s a look at all three scenarios for the Titans to clinch the AFC South:

1. TEN win OR

2. IND (vs. JAX) loss OR

3. TEN tie and IND tie

As far as just clinching a playoff spot in concerned, the Titans could so before even taking the field on Sunday, as the teams involved in the following scenarios all play at noon CT in Week 17:

1. BAL loss (at CIN) OR

2. MIA loss (at BUF) OR

3. TEN tie and CLE loss (vs. PIT) OR

4. TEN tie and MIA tie OR

5. TEN tie and BAL tie

Bottom line: it’s going to take quite a bit for the Titans to miss out on the playoffs here, as they can accomplish that feat even if they lose or tie the Texans.

Tennessee and Houston, as well as Jacksonville and Indianapolis, will kick off at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday.
