The Panthers may have to face their former coach Ron Rivera this week without the top two players on their roster. Both defensive end Brian Burns and running back Christian McCaffrey did not participate in today’s practice.
Here is your first look at the team’s Week 16 injury report.
Player | Injury | Wed | Thu | Fri | Status |
DE Brian Burns | Knee | DNP | |||
RB Christian McCaffrey | Thigh | DNP
OT Russell Okung | Calf | DNP
CB Troy Pride Jr. | Hip | DNP
DE Austin Larkin | Shoulder | Limited
DT Bravvion Roy | Knee | Limited
DE Yetur Gross-Matos | Ankle | Full
DE Marquis Haynes | Shoulder | Full
DE Efe Obada | Knee | Full | |||
WR Curtis Samuel | Hamstring | Full |
Assuming McCaffrey is once again unavailable, Mike Davis will continue to start at running back. If Burns has to sit out, the team may turn to Efe Obada to start opposite Yetur Gross-Matos.
As for Okung, Trent Scott is the only other left tackle remaining on the active roster. Both Greg Little and Dennis Daley have been placed on season-ending injured reserve.
At cornerback, seventh-round pick Stantley Thomas-Oliver is the best candidate to replace Pride, who is considered doubtful to play.
