Report: Arizona to hire Patriots QB coach Jedd Fisch as next head coach

The Patriots’ passing offense hasn’t exactly been prolific.

The University of Arizona will hire New England Patriots quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch as their new head coach, according to ESPN. Fisch, 44, will replace coach Kevin Sumlin, who the Wildcats fired on Dec. 12.

The Patriots hired Fisch this offseason, and he aided in the transition from Tom Brady to Cam Newton while working with second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham. New England plucked Fisch away from one season as UCLA’s offensive coordinator in 2019. He’s a bit of a journeyman, having worked for seven NFL teams and four college football programs.

With Fisch serving as the Patriots quarterbacks coach, the Patriots offense ranks third to last in yards per game (185.4), 19th in yards per attempt (7.2), 20th in completion percentage (64.9%), 32nd in touchdowns (8) and they were tied for fourth in interceptions (14th).
