The waiting is the hardest part. The NFL just made it easier for teams that will be looking to fill jobs of the head coach and other positions.
Those pursuing people will get the opportunity to conduct virtual interviews — with permission of the other team — when they determine candidates.
The details:
The new rule allowing virtual interviews during the regular season (up to 2 hours long) applies to head coaching vacancies only. Restrictions apply to other positions. No in-person interviews permitted as long as the hiring club or candidate’s club is still playing. A breakdown: pic.twitter.com/3T2MNDJiqI

The Rooney Rule remains applicable and teams were also alerted to the stipulations that go along with it.
The NFL also sent clubs a reminder on new requirements under the Rooney Rule, including interviewing two external minority candidates for head coaching jobs and one for coordinator and GM jobs. pic.twitter.com/tLss9zOMrN
