Texas Tech at Oklahoma: Three things to know
- Texas Tech dropped its Big XII conference opener 58-57 at home to Kansas as a 3.5-point favorite. Aside from Gs Mac McClung and Terrence Shannon, who combined for 41 of the team’s 57 points, the Red Raiders put up a dud offensively as no other Texas Tech player hit a 3-pointer or free throw.
- Oklahoma has notched three consecutive wins, all by at least 14 points, including an 84-65 victory over Houston Baptist Saturday. The Sooners have an edge in experience and lineup continuity as Oklahoma returned 71% of its scoring from last year’s team and has four upperclassmen in the starting lineup.
- The Sooners covered both meetings with the Red Raiders last season, including a 65-51 beatdown as 1.5-point home underdogs in their last head-to-head in February.

Texas Tech at Oklahoma: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Oklahoma 67, Texas Tech 63
Money line (ML)
PASS ON THE MONEY LINE. If I’m going to play this game, I am definitely taking the spread. Neither money line is more valuable than laying or grabbing the points.
Against the spread (ATS)
Oklahoma is the crisper offensive team—ranked 42nd in true shooting percentage compared to Texas Tech’s 211th ranking and is one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the country (ranked ninth in free-throw percentage).
In fact, Texas Tech is below-average in most offensive metrics but one of the keys for its offense—getting to the charity stripe—is a strength for Oklahoma’s defense. The Red Raiders are eighth in free-throw rate while the Sooners are seventh in opponent’s free throw rate.
Also, Oklahoma played Texas Tech tough last year and split the season series. I like the Sooners to win outright but there’s better value in plus-money for a full possession worth of insurance.
GIMME OKLAHOMA +2 (+110) for 1.5 units.
Over/Under (O/U)
Texas Tech loves to lull teams to sleep offensively and prides itself on playing hard-nosed defense. The Red Raiders are 270th in pace of play and second in opponent’s points per game. In their recent history, the Sooners have played a Red Raiders-style game with the Under cashing in five of the last six Oklahoma-Texas Tech games.
I “LEAN” UNDER 135.5 (-110) for a half-unit.
