Similar to what they did with Taurean Prince before the 2019-20 NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets have made a decision on Landry Shamet’s future with the franchise before the guard has played in a single regular season contest. The Nets announced on Monday that they have exercised the fourth-year team option on the guard’s contract for the 2021-22 NBA season.
Brooklyn is the third NBA location Shamet has called home, starting his career with the 76ers before being sent to the Los Angeles Clippers in the package that delivered Philly Tobias Harris. Shamet was then traded to the Nets on Draft Night this year as part of a three-team trade that also included the Detroit Pistons.
Shamet scored 13 points in 21 minutes as part of Brooklyn’s preseason win over the Washington Wizards, finishing 3-for-7 from the floor (3-for-5 from deep). In Brooklyn’s second preseason game, Shamet only scored six points in 18 minutes on 1-for-5 shoot (1-for-3 from deep).
