The Miami Dolphins are a little more than an hour away from kickoff, and we now know which Dolphins on the 53-man roster will not be suiting up for today’s game. The Dolphins shared their inactives list ahead of a critical AFC East clash with the New England Patriots, with both teams having plenty to play for. For the Patriots, the chance to preserve their streak of winning seasons. For the Dolphins? Playoff leverage is on the line. Who will we see take the field?

The inactive list features a major blow to the Dolphins’ hopes of winning this afternoon with the presence of WRs Jakeem Grant and Devante Parker plus TE Mike Gesicki. In these three, the Dolphins are missing arguably their three best skill players on the day, plus the absence of RB Myles Gaskin, who is still on the reserve/COVID-19 list and also unavailable for the Dolphins.
The decision to keep Parker inactive is especially brutal for the Dolphins given that a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Cam Wolfe came out overnight that indicated that Parker was expected to play in today’s critical AFC East contest between the Patriots and the Dolphins. With all of Miami’s best skill players to the side, Miami’s rookie duo of Lynn Bowden Jr. and Malcolm Perry will need to step up in a big way or else the Dolphins’ offense will have a lot of issues moving the football with consistency.
Elsewhere, there are little surprises on the inactives list for Miami. FB Chandler Cox has generally become an afterthought this season and starting guard Ereck Flowers was carted off just two weeks ago against Cincinnati with an ankle injury — so expecting to see him back so soon would have been ambitious at best.
The Patriots will have their own fair share of injuries in this football game. But will that be enough to help the Dolphins overcome a woeful turn of events ahead of today’s contest?
