Report: NFL eyes honoring health care workers with Super Bowl LV tickets

The NFL is mulling offering vaccinated health care workers by offering them Super Bowl tickets

Health care workers have been some of the biggest — arguably the biggest — heroes in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Wednesday the NFL is pondering a way to honor these people who risked their lives to help and save others. The plan would be to invite vaccinated workers to attend the Super Bowl.

“I wanted to let you know that during our League Meeting today we plan to discuss Super Bowl LV, including an exciting idea to honor and thank health care workers for their extraordinary service during the pandemic,” Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote to Rob Higgins, President of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committe. “We will also use this as an opportunity to promote the importance of vaccination and appropriate health practices, including wearing masks in public settings.

“We are currently discussing with public health officials our desire to invite vaccinated heath care workers to the Super Bowl as our guests. Subject to their approval and in consultation with your team, we aim to do this in a safe and responsible way.”
