Game of Thrones star ‘The Mountain’ to fight pro boxer Steven Ward in exhibition

“The Mountain” is looking to add another victory to his resume, which includes an execution of the “The Viper.”

Sir Gregor Clegane, also known as “The Mountain,” is handing in his sword and armor for boxing gloves

Hafbor Thor Bjornsson, one of the stars of “Game of Thrones” and one of the strongest men in the world, will compete in an exhibition boxing match Jan. 16 in Reykjavik, Iceland, he recently announced on his Instagram page.

The event is expected to be promoted by MTK Global, a European boxing and MMA promotion that also serves as representation for UFC middleweight Darren Till and heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury.

Unlike other celebrity boxing matches, Bjornsson won’t be fighting another actor – or another strongman. Instead, he’ll take on Northern Ireland boxer Steve Ward (13-1 pro boxing). Ward, 30, has three knockouts in 14 pro fights.

In May, Bjornsson broke the world record for deadlifting when he somehow elevated 1,104 pounds. Following the performance, Bjornsson called out fellow strongman Eddie Hall. The two fighters have since been rumored to fight in September 2021 in Las Vegas.

Prior to the scheduled exhibition match, Bjornsson will not have competed in combat sports officially. In 2015, however, Bjornsson got some training in with then yet-to-be-crowned UFC champion Conor McGregor. The video of the two sparring quickly went viral.
