Bears crack top three on list of teams most likely to add new QB in 2021

The Chicago Bears are an obvious favorite to make a quarterback change in 2021.

We’re steamrolling toward another offseason littered with quarterback questions for the Chicago Bears. And while that’s a depressing state of affairs for any team to be dealing with, it’s extra miserable for a Bears team that invested the second overall pick on a quarterback just four seasons ago.

That pick, Mitch Trubisky, has been an utter disaster. And while he’s back in the starting lineup after being benched for Nick Foles in Week 3, his play has only reinforced the fact that it’s time for Chicago to move on from him.

It would qualify as a stunner — an absolute shock — if the Bears don’t address quarterback this offseason. Whether it’s in the NFL Draft (and as high as the first round), in free agency, or even via trade, Chicago can’t keep the status quo — Nick Foles — behind center in 2021.

According to a recent list ranking the teams most likely to make a quarterback move this offseason, the Bears are third.

On an expiring deal, Trubisky lost his starting job. And Foles has yet to show he can lead a team through a full season in his nine years in the league.

Even if Nagy isn’t fired, he’ll need to win right away to finish the final two years of his deal. With that urgency, the Bears should acquire a veteran or fast-track a rookie in the offseason.

The Jets and Jaguars rank ahead of the Bears, but that feels like a product of draft position more than anything else. If neither club held the first or second overall picks, they’d be more likely to bring back Sam Darnold or Gardner Minshew than the Bears would be to bring back Trubisky.
