We are now at the point of the 2020 season where we need to keep an eye on other important games in the AFC for the Raiders to make the playoffs. A win over the Colts would drastically improve the team’s chances of making the tournament, but there are a few other key battles happening this weekend that could help or hurt the Raiders.
Using FiveThirtyEight’s playoff simulator, here are the three most important non-Raiders games of the weekend:
Jaguars over Titans (5% playoff increase for Raiders)
Browns over Ravens (5% playoff increase for Raiders)
Chiefs over Dolphins (3% playoff increase for Raiders)
The playoff probability can fluctuate some depending on other outcomes throughout the week, but these are clearly the three most important games for the Raiders this weekend.
If all three of these games were to go in favor of the Raiders and they were able to beat the Colts, their chances of making the playoffs would sit at 81 percent.
On the flip side, a loss and the Ravens, Dolphins and Titans winning would drop their odds down to 15 percent. If things were to play out this way, the Raiders would likely need to win three-straight games to finish out the season and they would need some outside help in order to reach the playoffs.
Needless to say, Week 14 is a big week for the Raiders.
