In the last two weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers and tight ends have had a serious case of the drops. Guys who typically have reliable hands have let the offense down in a big way. It would be nice if quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and his receivers could get this all sorted out before the team travels to Buffalo and takes on the Bills.

But according to offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner, Roethlisberger’s practice schedule might not allow for it. “I hate to use the idea that Ben in these shorter weeks hasn’t practiced .. but they catch on jugs,” Fichtner said. “But there’s something getting more balls and the basic practice schedules where Ben can throw to those receivers. I’m looking forward to that today.”

Could lack of practice reps between Roethlisberger and his receivers be part of the issue? If so, it might be time for Big Ben to practice more through the week and be part of the solution and not the problem. Timing is so important between a quarterback and his skill players. This one might be catching up to the Steelers.
