Jets rookie Denzel Mims out vs. Seahawks due to family matter

The Jets will be without Denzel Mims this Sunday against the Seahawks.

The Jets will be without Denzel Mims this Sunday against the Seahawks after the rookie wideout left Florham Park on Wednesday to deal with a family matter in Texas.

Mims is healthy, but his ability to play in Week 14 immediately became unlikely once he departed due to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols. Even if he had returned before Sunday, Mims would have had to receive back-to-back negative tests in order to play. Instead, he will miss New York’s trip to Seattle as he continues to tend to the personal issue.

On the injury front, Jordan Jenkins, Ashtyn Davis, Greg Van Roten, Frank Gore and Bennett Jackson will not practice Thursday, while Pat Elflein and Breshad Perriman will be limited.

Adam Gase said that Jenkins is dealing with a good amount of pain after injuring his shoulder in Sunday’s game, but it’s still possible he suits up against Seattle.

It is also possible that Bless Austin returns against the Seahawks. The cornerback was designated to return to practice this week after spending time on injured reserve with a neck injury.
