The Los Angeles Rams had a scare to start the week when Cam Akers and Michael Brockers were both listed on the injury report with shoulder and neck injuries, respectively. But as the week progressed, so too did their health.
On the final injury report Wednesday, Akers and Brockers were listed as full participants and don’t have designations for Thursday’s game – a sign that they’re good to go. Matt Gay, however, popped up with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable.
Sean McVay won’t speak to the media before kickoff on Thursday, so we don’t have any clarity on when the injury occurred or whether he’s expected to play, but this is a surprise after he was a full participant Tuesday in the team’s only other practice.
The Rams do have Austin MacGinnis on the practice squad, so he can be elevated to the active roster on Thursday if needed. Gay attempted to make a tackle on kickoff coverage Sunday against the Cardinals, so it’s possible the injury occurred then. We’ll just have to wait and see if he’s active on Thursday against the Patriots.
It’s worth noting that Terrell Lewis doesn’t have an injury designation after McVay said Tuesday that he’d be questionable, and that the team would be smart with the rookie, likely holding him out for another week.
