Quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasn’t the only member of the Green Bay Packers offense to be recognized nationally after Sunday’s 30-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
While Rodgers is the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week for Week 13, running back Aaron Jones was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week, beating out Melvin Gordon and Wayne Gallman for the weekly award.
Jones, who delivered the dagger on a 77-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, finished the contest with 130 rushing yards, his second-most in a game this season.
Gordon (141) and Gallman (135) had more rushing yards, but neither back had a touchdown on the ground. And Jones’ late score was special. He broke as many as five tackles, including attempts from both a linebacker and safety early in the run, and he eventually weaved his way through traffic to give the Packers a 14-point lead with just under three minutes left.
The 77-yard run was the longest of Jones’ career.
Jones has 754 rushing yards in 10 games in 2020. He’s averaging 75.4 a game, or roughly eight more than last season, and he’s on pace for his second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season.
Jones previously won the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award in Week 2, when he rushed for 168 yards and two scores during a win over the Detroit Lions.
