The Green Bay Packers placed three different players on injured reserve on Wednesday, all the result of injuries suffered during the Packers’ win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The team announced safety Raven Greene, running back Tyler Ervin and defensive lineman Billy Winn were placed on injured reserve.
The decision means the three players will have to miss at least three games.
Greene injured his shoulder, Ervin hurt his foot and Winn suffered a triceps injury during the 30-16 win on Sunday.
All three were role players. Greene is a backup safety and Mike Pettine’s go-to dime linebacker. Ervin handled various roles as a receiver, runner and returner, while also doing pre-snap jet motions within Matt LaFleur’s offense. Winn is a backup defensive lineman who was playing more and more snaps with Montravius Adams also on injured reserve.
Depending on the severity of the injuries, Greene, Ervin and Winn could be back as soon as Week 17. But the trio will have to miss games against the Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans until they are eligible to return.
The Packers only added one player to the roster on Wednesday, activating rookie guard Simon Stepaniak from the reserve/non-football injury list. On Tuesday, the team promoted safety Henry Black from the practice squad, a foreshadowing of Greene’s placement on injured reserve.
The Packers have 11 players on injured reserve.
