Jalen Hurts is set to make his first NFL start against one of the league’s fiercest defenses and his head coach wants him to stay in the moment.
With Doug Pederson benching Carson Wentz for the rookie Hurts, the former Oklahoma star will now have the opportunity to win the job permanently or make a case for another franchise to acquire him in the offseason.
During his Wednesday zoom meeting, Pederson told the media that he wants Hurts to be “himself” and “lead” the way he knows how.
Doug Pederson on Jalen Hurts: "Just go out there this week and obviously take control of the huddle…and just lead, lead the way he knows how. …That's my message to him: 'Be Jalen Hurts. Do the things you can do.'"

Hurts gave the Eagles offense a spark against the Packers and his ability to escape the pocket could be the perfect remedy for the Saints’ top-ranked defense.
A dynamic dual-threat, Hurts ability to escape the rush gives the Eagles their best shot at an upset victory over New Orleans.
