Multiple members of the Brooklyn Nets roster have already “incredibly impressed” Steve Nash in the team’s early preparations for the start of 2020-21.
Still, Nash didn’t rave about anyone like he did Kyrie Irving after Sunday’s practice.
“Kyrie has just been unbelievable with his ability,” Nash said on a Zoom call with reporters. “I mean his ability is off the charts. To see him sharp and executing today the way we all know he’s capable of — but it’s still sometimes a shock to see how beautiful the game is when the ball’s in his hands.”
Brooklyn’s head coach also had something to say about Kevin Durant’s effort in the early going.
“Feel very excited and happy for Kevin, who has had the longest layoff and the biggest challenge to overcome a career-threatening injury,” Nash said. “He’s done everything that could’ve been asked. He showed that hunger and desire — and how much he loves the sport and wants to compete. That’s been fantastic.”
