Cam Newton was anything but timid in a 45-0 drubbing of the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13.
The New England Patriots set the tone early with a run-heavy drive to start the game that resulted in a touchdown — killing seven minutes off the clock. Bill Belichick’s team didn’t look back after that hot start, picking apart the Chargers in every phase of the game.
Newton had a career-high 12 rushes in the first half and he finished the game with 14 carries and two rushing touchdowns for 48 yards. He completed 12-of-19 passes for 69 yards and a score through the air as well. His vintage Cam rushing approach surprised the Chargers and they couldn’t contain it.
While asked after the game about his mentality, he delivered a simple and amazing quote.

Newton was the hammer, and now the Patriots are 6-6 with increasing chances to make the playoffs.
