Carson Wentz is facing pressure to get the Eagles back on the winning track and with a matchup with the Packers just hours away, there won’t be much room for error early on.
During FOX’s NFL Sunday pregame show, Jay Glazer reported that Wentz is on a “very short leash” and that a change at quarterback could be made if the Eagles star gets off to a slow start.

During the FOX piece, Glazer reported that Wentz may be dealing with confidence issues that stem from the Eagles drafting Jalen Hurts in the second round this past spring.
I’ve talked with players and coaches and asked the same thing: what’s going on with them? They said, ‘We’re trying to figure out the same thing. We think he’s lost his confidence.’ I said, ‘Does it have to do with Jalen Hurts?’ They said, ‘Even though he says no, yes, we see that being the issue.’ You look at the other side [of today’s game], Aaron Rodgers, when they [the Packers] took Jordan Love, he looked at it as a challenge. Instead, this is affecting Carson’s confidence.”
The report comes on the heels of Wentz and other Eagles players taking ownership of their poor play and the team holding a meeting to address some lingering issues.
Wentz has to deal with the competition, while the Eagles will have to deal with the fallout of using a high draft pick on a backup quarterback with so many other holes that needed to be field on both sides of the ball.
