Auburn had more than enough opportunities to take down No. 5 Texas A&M, and they squandered all of them.
Bo Nix overthrew Eli Stove in the first half and the Tigers then settled for a field goal. Auburn had three timeouts and the ball left with 24 seconds to go in the second quarter and instead opted to go to the locker room. Texas A&M had a very questionable third-down conversion in the third quarter and instead of calling a timeout and challenging the play, Auburn let play continue and gave up the game-clinching touchdown.
The Tigers’ defense also allowed Texas A&M to convert 70% of third downs.
It was inexplicable, frustrating, and pitiful to witness. Twitter also would like a few words here.
Absolutely killing us on the edge

Absolute brain dead play calling on the first two play calls. Can't respond to an easy touchdown drive with a 3 and out.

Bo Houdini Nix! What in the actual hell? And then he scores a touchdown because how else do you consummate the miracle escape? That was good. That was really good!

Bo Nix is special. Hope we see him with competent coaching and a high-level OL before his time with us is done.

Not using any timeouts and taking them to the locker room down 4. Checkers, not chess.

28th first down for Texas A&M. Had 17 against Vanderbilt.
— Keith Niebuhr (@Keith247Sports) December 5, 2020
We had the ball, 3 timeouts, 24 seconds, and the momentum on offense at the end of the 2nd quarter. We ran the clock out instead.
Started the second half with a TD, got a stop on defense, then went 72 yards and instead of going for the touchdown on the 7, we kick a field goal.
— Will Kelley (@aubietiger1928) December 5, 2020
Pathetic performance. No fire on defense and no effort.
