Coach Matt LaFleur might not be concerned about Za’Darius Smith’s ankle injury, but the Green Bay Packers still listed their star outside linebacker as questionable for Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Smith, running back Tyler Ervin and linebacker Krys Barnes are all questionable, while center Corey Linsley is officially out with a knee injury.
LaFleur said Smith has been battling the ankle injury all season.
Since signing with the Packers last year, Smith has played in all 29 games, including the postseason. He leads the team with nine sacks, 20 quarterback hits and three forced fumbles.
Ervin could return after missing two games with a ribs injury, while Barnes is attempting to return after sitting out almost a month on the COVID-19 reserve list. LaFleur expressed optimism that Ervin, the team’s top returner and gadget player on offense, will play.
If he still can’t go, newcomer Tavon Austin could play a bigger role in his first game with the Packers.
One bit of good news: starting right guard Lucas Patrick doesn’t have an injury designation and will play despite a toe injury. Also, cornerback Josh Jackson has passed through concussion protocol and is good to go.
The Eagles listed top cornerback Darius Slay as questionable with a calf injury. He’d likely shadow Packers receiver Davante Adams if he does play.
Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and tight end Zach Ertz don’t have an injury designation and will play Sunday.
