Rams don’t expect Jalen Ramsey to be limited by hip injury this week

Jalen Ramsey missed some time in Sunday’s game with a hip injury that popped up pre-game

Jalen Ramsey was on the sideline more often than usual Sunday against the 49ers, which sparked questions about what was going on with the Rams’ top cornerback. It turns out Ramsey injured his hip pre-game and as a result, the team played it safe by limiting him to just 69% of the defensive plays.

Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be a serious injury and Ramsey is expected to be a full-go this week in practice. That’s great news for the Rams, especially with a matchup against DeAndre Hopkins on the docket for Sunday afternoon in Arizona.

Brandon Staley shared an update on Ramsey during his media session Wednesday, saying it was more of a precautionary measure to limit his reps against San Francisco.

Given the way the Rams deployed Ramsey against DK Metcalf, it’s reasonable to expect him to shadow Hopkins this week, too. Hopkins is one of the best wideouts in the league and someone Ramsey has said in the past that he enjoys battling against.

The Cardinals will host the Rams at 4:05 p.m. ET this Sunday.
