After an underwhelming 20-7 loss to Texas A&M last week, the defending national champion LSU Tigers fell to 3-4 on the season.
With games in the next two weeks against No. 1 Alabama and No. 6 Florida, a strong finish could be a difficult proposition for head coach Ed Orgeron’s beat-up squad.
Despite what could be one of the worst seasons in recent LSU history, some bowl projections still have some positive news for Tiger fans.
College Football News released their latest bowl projections this week and have LSU meeting No. 16 Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl. The Badgers are 2-1 on the season and, much like LSU, have postponed games due to COVID-19.

If that bowl projection appears to be a bit optimistic for this struggling LSU team, there are factors to consider for this season.
First, overall records do not matter. And any bowl can be filled with a conference tie-in. The Outback Bowl always features a Big Ten team facing an SEC team.
LSU has appeared in the Outback Bowl on two occasions; first, in 1989, when the Tigers fell to Syracuse, and most recently in 2014, when the Tigers defeated Iowa.
Many bowl games have already been canceled due to COVID-19, but the Outback Bowl is still slated to be played on Jan. 2 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
