Following the Chicago Bears’ fifth straight loss — a dreadful 41-25 defeat to the Green Bay Packers — many fans are already looking ahead to the 2021 season.
While Bears fans haven’t had much invested in the first night of the NFL draft over the last two years, that changes in 2021, where Chicago has a first-round selection.
And there’s no question that pick will likely have an offensive focus, most likely a quarterback or offensive lineman.
In CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson’s latest mock draft, he has five quarterbacks going in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Among them, the Bears drafting North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance, who had generated hype heading into the 2020 college football season.

2. Justin Fields (Jags)
5. Zach Wilson (Washington)
12. Mac Jones (Pats)

The Bears likely won’t have a go at the top three quarterbacks in this draft class in Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, Ohio State’s Justin Fields and BYU’s Zach Wilson, but there are still some talented young quarterbacks that should draw the Bears’ eye.
Lance was once considered to be a top three quarterback prospect in 2021, but his lone fall game this season, which wasn’t a huge standout performance. Lance completed 15-of-30 passes for 149 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the 39-28 North Dakota State victory.
Bears scouts were in attendance at that game, and they’ve clearly been doing some early homework on the 2021 quarterback draft class.
The important question here is: Who will be drafting future Bears players in 2021? While general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy are signed through the 2021 season, the final five games here will go a long way in determining their future in Chicago. That is, if last Sunday’s embarrassing loss didn’t already seal their fate.
