Florida’s 34-10 win over Kentucky was enough to keep it on track to clinch the SEC East and represent the division at the SEC Championship Game, but not enough to rise up in the latest CBS Sports rankings.
The Gators remained at No. 5, one spot ahead of Texas A&M, who beat them. But UF is still behind No. 4 Clemson, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 1 Alabama.
Florida is one spot out of the College Football Playoff according to these rankings, but if it wins out and captures an SEC title over Alabama, it should be essentially guaranteed a place in the CFP.
But UF’s final two regular-season games come against Tennessee and LSU, and even blowouts over those opponents likely wouldn’t do much to improve its standing. The Gators are probably going to be in rankings limbo until the SEC Championship, assuming they can clinch it this weekend with a win over the Volunteers.
Here is the full top 25 from CBS.
