In the NBA, it is important to have a star who can do a variety of things. The Philadelphia 76ers have one in the form of Ben Simmons who can do plenty of things on the basketball court such as rebounding, passing, scoring, and playing elite-level defense.
Simmons has been named an All-Star in each of the previous two seasons and he was named to the All-NBA Third Team while also making an All-Defensive First Team. There is not a lot he can’t do on the floor.
A player who often gets compared to him is Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic who can do a lot of what Simmons can do on the floor as well. The big difference between the two of them is that Doncic has a jumper. Other than that, they are often similar players.
New Sixers acquisition Seth Curry just played with Doncic for a season and he is now getting set to play his first season with Simmons in Philadelphia. He was asked about any similarities between the two players.
“They’re both great passers, very unselfish guys who like to be creative in a way to get their teammates involved,” Curry explained. “Obviously, they’re bigger ball-handlers, bigger point guards, but can guard different positions on the other end. I’m looking forward to getting to know Ben and hopefully make him a better player.”
Simmons and Doncic are threats to go for a triple-double at any moment and they are two of the better players in the league, currently. The main differences in the players are that Simmons is one of the better defenders in the league while Doncic is obviously a much better shooter as he has range out to the 3-point line.
Having Curry on the floor next to Simmons should make him an even better player as he will be ready to knock down triples off any kick-outs when he drives. Simmons has a knack for finding open shooters from deep and having an elite shooter like Curry next to him will make life easier for him and the Sixers as a whole.
