Mike Tyson fought Roy Jones Jr. on Saturday night, in an exhibition bout that showcased the two former champions. Tyson is 54 years old. Jones is 51. Like I said, it was very much an exhibition.
While they’re both getting up there, the bout wasn’t a total waste of time. Unlike whatever it was we saw in the undercard Jake Paul- Nate Robinson fight, which saw Paul landing a big knockout in a bout that can best be described as “amateur,” this was a real fight between two real fighters.
While the speed may not have been there, Tyson and Jones are two of the greatest of all time, and they haven’t lost their technique or knowledge of how to box.
The fight ended in a draw, although I personally would have scored it for Tyson. Also, it truly doesn’t matter at all.
